SX 101A Restore pg3

Well, the cleaning went OK I guess.  I found the result of Naval Jelly to be less than desirable on this chassis so I'm leaving it as-is until I discover something else to take care of some stains & discoloration.  I had the usual replacement of capacitors & questionable resistors...

I found an issue with the power switch & spent a lot of time tearing it apart for a clean-up.  It has a pot switch behind the mode switch wafers & seems to be a unique design of switch, not found at the local electronics store.  After putting it all back together, I found it to be less than 100%.  I'm not real worried about it as I will have the radio plugged into a power outlet along with the HT 32A so they get power from a single switch.  When I'm out of the shack, the switch kills the power to everything.  I felt the need for that from a unique design of this radio--even with the radio's power switch off, there is power to large resistor pad and to the grid of the oscillator tube if the radio is plugged in!  No way!!  Not in my shack!  The reason for the design is for quicker warm-up & to combat moisture.  Now that's old school!  (wonder how many fires this design caused!)

It went together well except the bolts & finishing washers were never found in Sioux City, but the local hardware store had the replacements.  The cover is a bit worn but not terrible so it too stays as-is.  There could be a day to repaint in the future but the wear marks on the top just goes with age.  I'm not the type to repaint covers anyway unless it's original color or something really close.

Not too shabby if I don't say so myself.  I just love the face of the radio...the glass looks wonderful, no scratches, cracks, or annoying dust behind the front glass, just the cool green glow of the scale....it just screams "Cool!"

We will give it a test drive for a week or so to be sure everything works fine, then we'll give it a good alignment.  I'll have to re-arrange the heavy area of the shack to squeeze it in next to HT32A.  Here's the pair-
